U.S. Bank CD Ladder

Give your savings a boost.

With a U.S. Bank CD ladder, you can earn the competitive, guaranteed, fixed rates of a CD and have more flexibility as each CD matures. Build your ladder with a minimum deposit of $2,000.1

What is a CD ladder?

A CD ladder is a simple strategy designed to help you earn the higher annual percentage yields (APYs)2 of CDs while maintaining frequent access to portions of your deposit. This is done by spreading your deposit across multiple CDs, each with a different maturity date. Together, these CDs represent a ladder, and each individual CD within that ladder represents one step.

The staggered maturity dates in your ladder give you frequent, planned opportunities to access your funds. When the first step of your ladder matures, you can choose to withdraw that cash or add a new step to your ladder by renewing it.

Why create a CD ladder?

Greater flexibility

Stagger the term lengths for each step of your ladder to match your anticipated cash needs.

Higher rates

Each CD in your ladder earns the APY of a CD for that specific term length.2

Guaranteed returns

The APY for each step of your ladder is guaranteed for the full term of that step.3

FDIC Secured

All U.S. Bank CDs are FDIC insured to the maximum allowed by law.4

How to build and grow your CD ladder

Using the CD ladder calculator below, enter your ZIP code, your full deposit amount, the number of steps (CDs) you want in your ladder, and the term length of your longest step. We’ll distribute your deposit amount evenly across the ladder.

When a CD in your ladder reaches maturity, you can withdraw your funds within 10 calendar days by transferring your money to an internal or external checking or savings account. Or you can grow your ladder by:

  • Doing nothing: It will automatically renew at the longest term length of your initial ladder.3
  • Customizing a new step in your ladder: Choose a new deposit amount and term length.

Customize a CD ladder to match your needs.
